I agreed with Peter, attorneys do not need to disclose their personal information, however, he need it to file his taxes. As per his comments in regards to what course of actions he takes in his cases, it is his responsiblity and due dillligence to follow all the necessary steps to represent his clients, he is an expert in representing clients in tax matters therefore I want to believe that the tax court system appreciates the fact that he protects the right of tax payers. Attorneys who represents the IRS in appeals or any type of dispute have to do their jobs, it is a numbers game at the end of the day they are salaried employees and they really dont care. I just had my own us tax court experience and i had to fight it until the last minute to be more clear on the date of my trial I expressed to the Judge that i was ready and that i need it 3 hours of her time and SURPRISE! no trial and instead i had a deal on the table from the IRS .. They said that I owed million dls in taxes and i seattle for 35k. This is very recent just a month agao and I now decided to help tax payers from the abouse of the Internal Revenue Service. I learned my lesson: ALWAYS FILE TAXES!!! No matter what we need to file them, It is not in our best interest to get alltangled up with the IRS and this attorny knew better, I am really sorry but he Fked up!

Steven,

Are you basing your opinion of Kilduff on personal experience or on the word of others?

I don't think a tax lawyer should have to disclose the status of his personal tax filings to his clients any more than a criminal lawyer should be required to disclose his speeding tickets to his clients. For that matter, I also don't think a doctor who smokes should be required to disclose that fact to patients he advises not to smoke.

I don't. It is called a hyperbole. And, FYI, if I did, you would be a lot closer to the top than that idiot miscreant.

As a related point to what you wrote, do you think it is unethical for a tax attorney to be in noncompliance or engaged in a dispute with the IRS personally, and not disclose that to clients? I believe clients rightfully ask and expect that in order to make sure their representation is truly zealous and within the law.

Steven,

If you keep a list of the top 600 tax attorneys, you are in dire need of acquiring a life.

Where and who said this bozo is one of America's "top" tax lawyers. By my reckoning, even absent his unethical conduct, he would not rate in the top 600.
