The Associated Press reports that embattled Illinois Governor, Democrat Rod Blagojevich, has said he will not defend himself in the upcoming Illinois House impeachment trial because the system is fixed against him by people who want to raise taxes:
Launching an all-out media blitz as his impeachment trial draws near, Gov. Rod Blagojevich compared himself Friday to an honest, hardworking cowboy about to be lynched by a band of black-hatted political insiders eager to raise taxes.
Blago, apparently a big fan of movies about the old West, compared himself to a cowboy who was accused of horse stealing. One member of the posse said the horse thief should be immediately hanged. A more fair man spoke up in the accused’s defense and said:
“That’s not right. We should give him a trial before we hang him.”
Would it make me a Neanderthal if I agreed with the first guy in the interest of saving taxpayers’ money?
After thought: Maybe Judge Roy Bean will be assigned to handle Blago’s criminal trial. If so, I’d advise the Guv to rush out and get himself a lock of Lillie Langtry’s hair.
