45th Anniversary of the Assassination of (Tax Cutter) President John F. Kennedy

November 22nd, 2008 · 2 Comments

Today is the 45th anniversary of the assassination of John F. Kennedy. I found this video clip which gives us a good indication of what that wise man would have done were he faced with today’s economic crisis:

I was only six years old when JFK was shot and killed in Dallas. I remember the grainy black and white footage of Elm Street and the Texas School Book Depository. But mostly, I remember my mother crying.

Here’s the famous Walter Cronkite report:

Some sentimental types like to say humankind lost it’s innocence that day.

But is it possible that the assassination of one man could do what the Spanish Inquisition, Slavery and the Holocaust combined had failed to do?

I thought I was the history nut around here?

    Great analogy at the end.

After watching these clips, I guess I am one of those sentimental types. But I believe so much more was lost by that action the the innocence of humans.
How different this country would be today had he lived and continued through his term not to mention beyond.

I was on a field trip with my grammer school class to the Museum of Natural History in NYC. We were watching the show at the Hayden Planetarium when suddenly it stopped and the lights came on.

There was an announcement over the loud speaker that “the President has been shot”. It went on to say that the Planetarium was closing and we all had to go home.

Do you remember where you were when Nixon resigned?
