Martin Nesbitt, the Treasurer of the Obama for President Campaign, and his several companies have numerous outstanding state tax liens, but the only tax lien anyone seems to care about is Joe the Plumber’s.
Samuel J. Wurzelbacher (aka Joe the Plumber) asked a relatively benign question of Barack Obama at a rope line in Ohio two weeks ago and has been paying the price ever since. Obama answered by saying “we need to spread the wealth around.”
At least a half dozen times in the debate last Wednesday John McCain said that Obama wanted to redistribute some of good ol’ Joe’s wealth.
The Obama campaign – champion of the middle class and the “little guy” – has been trying to discredit the apparently hard-working, middle-class man from Holland, Ohio.
One of the “damning” facts left-wing hit squads unearthed was that Wurzelbacher has a $1,200.00 outstanding tax lien against him in favor of the State of Ohio. This disclosure, together with the disclosures that Joe is not a plumber and that he isn’t really buying a business, is a crude form of the ancient game of “kill the messenger.”
I understand it, though.
Obama’’s “spread the wealth” answer has caused his campaign’s Xanax bill to skyrocket. He has to staunch the wound somehow and what better way to do it then to divert attention from Obama’s unfortunate (but revealing) answer to the moral character of the questioner?
But make no mistake about it, the Obama campaign knows that it’s wholly irrelevant whether or not Joe the Plumber has paid his taxes. And it knows that the only relevant thing about the entire event is Obama’s answer.
(Query: Would Obama’s answer have changed had he known Joe the Plumber owed taxes? Or that he wasn’t a plumber? Or that he wasn’t going to make more than 250k anytime soon? Of course not.)
Nesbitt is the man Barack Obama has entrusted with the management and accounting of a $500 million campaign war chest. McCain has been skewered for his “bad judgment” in choosing Sarah Palin yet Obama shows even worse judgment by appointing a man who doesn’t have his own financial house in order to handle his campaign’s finances and gets a pass. Makes you wanna go “Seinfeld” and say, “what’s up with that?”
It all reminds me of a little poem by the great Scottish Poet, Robert Burns,
Oh would some power the giftie gi’e us,
To see ourselves as others see us.
But I guess there is a silver lining to the left’s shameless attack on Joe the Plumber: It’s diverted their attention away from Sarah Palin’s children.

What is even more amazing is that Martin Nesbitt is the head of the Chicago Housing Authority. On June 27, 2008, The Boston Globe published an article entitled “Grim Proving Ground for Obama’s Housing Policy”, written by Binyamin Applebaum. The story outlines Obama’s ties to private developers of affordable housing in Chicago and how he directed money to them both as a State Senator and as the Chairman of the Woods Foundation. It also shows what an complete failure this program has been and how the tenants were left hanging after the developers walked away with their profits, leaving no money for maintenance.
The incestuous ties to his campaign staff and major donors are eye opening – Nesbitt, Valerie Jarrett, Allison Davis, and Tony Rezko are just a few of the very many mentioned in this news report, all with deep ties to this scandal. Read it and your jaw will drop.
The funniest part is where Obama says that he wants to take some of the profits from Fannie and Freddie and and give them to private developers of affordable housing. I guess since Fannie and Freddie are broke, that won’t be happening. Thank God.
